RWA ROAD WALK CHAMPIONSHIPS

This page lists individual top three placings and team winners in the Race Walking Association Championships since 1960. In recent years the championships have been limited to athletes representing English clubs although other athletes have been allowed to compete as guests. Winners of Championships from 1908-1914, 1920-1939 and 1946-1959 can be found on pages for those eras.

RWA ROAD WALK RELAY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Initiated in 1988 the event was held annually in Perry Park, Birmingham. The men's distance changed from 30 (2x4x6x8x10) kilometres to 22 (2x4x6x4x6) kilometres, and the women's from 20 (2x4x6x8) kilometres to 16 (2x4x6x4) kilometres, in 1992. Time penalties were awarded in place of disqualifications. The event was discontinued after 1997.

RWA YOUNG ATHLETES ROAD WALK CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Junior Men's Championship was first held in 1951 and was open to athletes under the age of 21 until 1978 when it reverted to the standard age group definition. Although overseas athletes are allowed to compete as guests, in recent years the championships has been limited to athletes affiliated to English clubs.

The BAF organised British Race Walking Championships from 1993, in several cases in conjunction with the RWA Championships (see above). With the dissolution of the BAF the Championships were discontinued after 1998.
